Last weekend was a long weekend (thanks to Ontario's Family Day holiday!) and I spent it with two good friends of mine, Brenden and Jason, and Brenden's family. I've been wanting (for some time) to get a new guitar and so we spent a fair amount of time on the weekend guitar shopping. Needless to say, I ended up buying the Taylor 214ce (and there it is to the left!) which is quite a nice guitar, especially for me. I really count it as a blessing from God as I certainly don't deserve to have one.

I recently finished reading The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer and was challenged in particular by the last chapter. It talks about how the view of things, activities, and places as being either secular or sacred is ... well, wrong for the Christian. The apostle Paul speaks in reference to food that "everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving" (1 Tim 4:4) and that we are to honor God no matter what we are doing. "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God ." (1 Cor 10:31) Tozer writes in that last chapter about how hard it is to change our way of thinking-we instinctively view our lives outside of church, prayer, and the reading of the Word as something less than our time "with God." I was quite challenged by this and I think it is really important to strive (and to ask God to help us) to live every single part of lives as a chance to bring glory to our King.

I'm not sure what that looks like exactly, but here's a guess or two. When you're showering, thank Him for it-a lot of people don't have running (or heated) water. When you're eating breakfast, thank Him and praise Him for His goodness-He gives us so much that we do not deserve and He is worthy of all the praise we could ever give Him. When you're discouraged at work or school or wherever you are, remember God's faithfulness to you and all His blessings and press on through the difficulty just as your Savior endured the cross for the joy set before Him.

These are just the thoughts of a child of God, hoping to please his Father by his Father's own grace. (And that child is just as likely to fail as not, so take everything with a grain of salt and remember to check God's Word.)

Well, this is getting long, so I'm going to call it quits for tonight. But before you go, be sure to check out some good music by my good friend Jason.
